ACDM History

The Association of Composite Door Manufacturers (ACDM) was formed in 2002 to represent the interests of suppliers to and manufacturers of Composite Pedestrian Doorsets. The market for these high performance composite doorsets has grown significantly since the ACDM was formed and now represents the entrance doorset of choice for domestic dwellings.

The ACDM is a membership organisation which provides technical advice to its members and represents their interests to Government in the development of Government Policy, Building Regulations and, to British and European Standards setting organisations, through its representation on the relevant BSI committees

The ACDM has developed BS 8529: Composite doorsets – Domestic external doorsets – Specification. This British Standard was originally published in 2010 and was updated in 2017. This standard provides the Composite Doorset industry and specifiers of doorsets with a guide to the performance characteristics and methods of testing, that may be required of a Composite doorset to enable specifications for Composite doorsets such as Thermal Performance, Security and Fire Resistance, for use in the UK to meet Building Regulation compliance. More detailed information is available in our technical section.
