The latest in composite doors

Following the work carried out by the ACDM with the UK Government following the Grenfell Tower fire and the agreements reached with the then MHCLG, now know and DLUHC to enable new and replacement Composite Fire-Resistant Doorsets to be installed in compliance with the guidance contained in Approved Document B based on the January 2020 publication by MHCLG of the Combined Advice Note , further changes to the Building Regulations guidance in England have now been published that affect the specification of Composite doorsets (standard and fire-resistant).

These changes are based on the UK Governments Future Homes Standards and has resulted in the following:

  • Approved Document L (England only) – Improved U-value of DSER
  •  Approved Document F (England only) – Changes to background ventilation (may affect doorsets fitted to some rooms where alternative means such as windows are not available)
  • Approved Document Q (England only) – Possible proposed changes to include replacement doorsets as well as New Dwellings.

The security testing on which AD Q is based has been revised and is issued for Public Comment until 27th May 2022. Access the draft standard and comment at:
